Healthcare Services

The Baltimore/Washington area is home to some of the best healthcare in the world, and Anne Arundel County is no exception. Residents have access to a wide variety of general practitioners, specialists, and hospitals to address whatever health issues you encounter.

Anne Arundel County is home to two hospitals – Anne Arundel Medical Center in Annapolis and the Baltimore Washington Medical Center in Glen Burnie .

ANNE ARUNDEL MEDICAL CENTER  

Anne Arundel Medical Center is part of Anne Arundel Health System, which also includes: Pathways (a non-profit inpatient/outpatient drug and alcohol rehabilitation facility for adolescents and adults); Anne Arundel Diagnostics; the AskAAMC 24-hour health line; and three satellite locations in Bowie , Waugh Chapel, and Kent Island .

Medical Park Campus
The Medical Park campus is located at 2001 Medical Parkway , just off Route 50 near Annapolis . A 330,000-sq.ft, six-story Acute Care Pavilion (ACP) opened December 1, 2001, including a state-of-the-art critical care unit as well as 12 surgical suites and a large Emergency Department with undercover ambulance access. A 700-car garage is adjacent to the hospital. The ACP joins the Clatanoff Pavilion, which is home to the AAMC Women’s and Children’s Center and Wound Center ; the Edwards Outpatient Surgery Pavilion; the Donner Pavilion, site of the AAMC DeCesaris Cancer Institute; and the Wayson Pavilion, a medical office building.

In addition, a medical office pavilion is located on the western end of the Medical Park campus. Named the Sajak Pavilion in recognition of major donors Lesly and Pat Sajak, this 150,000-sq. ft., six-story building is the site of the AAMC Breast Center , Anne Arundel Diagnostics and physicians' offices and is served by its own adjacent parking garage. BALTIMORE WASHINGTON MEDICAL CENTER                                                                    The Baltimore Washington Medical Center is located at 301 Hospital Drive in Glen Burnie . The hospital is part of the University of Maryland Medical System and is one of their teaching hospitals. BWMC services and centers of excellence include the Aiello Breast Center, Tate Cancer Center, Maryland Vascular Center, PET/CT technology, emergency care, pediatric care, psychiatric care, Joint Replacement Center, Spine and Pain Center, Wound Healing Center, Joslin Diabetes Center, cardiology and cardiac rehabilitation services, endoscopy services and geriatric services. BWMC is also a Primary Stroke Center .

BWMC recently opened its $117 million expansion, adding a 111-bed patient care wing to its existing 298-bed hospital as well as a new women’s health center, including obstetrics care. For more information, visit www.bwmc.umms.org.

Community Health Care
At the community level, the Anne Arundel County Department of Health provides preventative, clinical, and case management health services in homes, clinics, and county schools. Specialties include family planning, OB/GYN, dental, and audiology services. To locate a clinic near your home, visit www.aahealth.org.

The MHCC is an independent state regulatory agency that assists consumers with health care decisions. Johns Hopkins Community Physicians

Johns Hopkins Community Physicians offers primary care, including internal medicine, obstetrics and gynecology, and pediatrics, and some specialty care at 25 locations throughout Maryland and the D.C. region, including Odenton. As providers with the U.S. Military Family Health Plan, their convenient location and quality services make them a natural choice for those stationed at Ft. Meade . Righttime Medical Care

Formerly known as Nightttime Pediatrics, Righttime Medical Care has provided convenient medical care for over 20 years to families in Maryland . Board certified physicians treat patients of all ages for common illnesses and minor injuries 365 days a year. Their state-of-the-art Care Centers are open from 11am to midnight and offer an array of convenient care options including x-ray, prescription and laboratory services. Knollwood Manor, Genesis HealthCare

Knollwood Manor is one of four Genesis HealthCare centers in Anne Arundel County . Located at 899 Cecil Avenue South in Millersville, Knollwood Manor has 87 skilled nursing beds licensed for Medicare and Medicaid.  Also contracted with major insurance companies, the center provides short-stay respite, short stay skilled care, rehabilitation services, and long term care. Find a Personal Physician
To locate a personal physician, there are several helpful resources available to Maryland residents. The Maryland State Medical Soceity (MedChi) offers a Find-A-Physician service on their website www.medchi.org. The Maryland Academy of Family Physicians has a "find a doctor" feature on their website that allows you to search for a family physician by zip code. Visit www.mdafp.org for more information. Most medical insurance companies also offer a doctor locator service for plan participants.
