Employment Resources

Though the jobs that most people associate with BRAC and other growth at Fort Meade are highly technical/specialized, there are still plenty of opportunities for those who aren’t intelligence or information specialists. Fort Meade houses over 100 partner commands (independent agencies), and as such require everything from janitorial services and administrative support to intelligence management positions. Many of these agencies have their own separate hiring processes, but the links below will lead you to the individual websites of some of the larger ones:

Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA)

Though more DISA personnel transitioned with their jobs to Maryland than initially expected, openings do still occur and the agency is intent on filling those positions with Maryland residents when possible, thereby minimizing commutes. When BRAC relocations were announced, only 35% of DISA personnel were Maryland residents; now 65% are. Though DISA offers a wide range of employment opportunities, from facilities maintenance to information security, it is a highly secured facility and all positions require a security clearance.

For high school and college students interested in a career at DISA, the agency offers a variety of internship and temporary employment programs. For more information, visit DISA Entry Level Programs, DISA Training & Career Development, or ask your guidance counselor for help applying.

National Security Agency (NSA)

Having experienced significant expansion over the past five years, and still growing, NSA is always looking for talented workers who can meet their security clearance requirements. You must be a U.S. citizen to apply. A list of NSA career field descriptions is available on their website at NSA Career Fields, allowing you to target your job search in their database to positions that fit your interests.

For high school, college, and graduate students already interested in a career in the intelligence world, NSA offers a wide variety of internship, work study, and scholarship opportunities. More information is available at NSA Student Opportunities.
